Nuclear Society of Slovenia: Background and Mission
The Nuclear Society of Slovenia has been highly successful in publishing to inform and educate the broader public. The Society seeks to serve an increasingly important role in promoting education and public awareness of issues related to the nuclear industry.
The further development and growth of the Society requires new and fresh activities with a focus on the following goals:
- broader involvement of all members in NSS conferences and activities
- support for the professional development of members
- promoting recognition of the NSS in Slovenian society
- encouraging activities for the next generation of nuclear professionals
The society will continue to succeed if its members remain aware of the benefits of membership and are
actively involved in the organization's activities. Regular meetings will help to ensure a prompt
and professionally sound response to current topics and questions on nuclear power generation,
technology, education, and science.
Each of these goals can be achieved with the all-round support of NSS activities including:
- the publishing of important new research results
- organization of annual NSS conferences
- international cooperation
- participation in public debate
In following term, our efforts will be focused on the realization of the following goals:
- organization of lectures and symposia
- organization of technical discussions and meetings
- defining professional positions and statements
- arrangement of technical visits
- public exposure to strengthen the technical culture in Slovenia
- cooperation with similar organizations and societies
- participation of nuclear experts in the governmental decision making process regarding
nuclear power generation, technology, education, and science
- organization of social activities including picnics, field-trips, dances, and recreation competitions
- arrangement of benefits for members such as discounts for technical literature
We intend to increase the number of active members by introducing two initiatives:
- public presentation of NSS goals and invitations for members to cooperate, and
- forming commissions within the framework of the NSS
